Eri Ahimsa Silk Stole — hand-woven ‘Peace Silk’ from Assam
Our 100% Ahimsa Eri silk stole, also known as Peace Silk is hand-woven in Assam by our partner artisans, using skills passed down through generations. Unlike traditional silk, Eri silk is spun after the silkworm has naturally emerged from its cocoon: no cocoons are boiled, and no chrysalises are harmed. It is the only truly non-violent and cruelty-free silk — to find out more about what sets each fibre apart, explore our guide to types of silk and their characteristics.
Its texture is unique: dense, warm and slightly woolly, it evokes the softness of a cloud whilst retaining the elegance characteristic of silk. This piece is part of our Collection Eri Peace Silk, which brings together our entire range of stoles and accessories woven from this same ethically sourced fibre.
Each piece, hand-woven, features the subtle variations that define the value of an authentic handcrafted textile — no two stoles are exactly alike. At Tohora, we import this rare silk directly from Assam, ensuring traceability and fair pay for the artisan weavers.
For those looking for an even rarer material, our Collection Muga Silk offers stoles with a distinctive golden sheen, made from a type of raw silk unique to Assam and considered to be amongst the most precious in the world.
